Our Transport
Southern Meat Group Transport Division forms part of the Groups overall vertical integration in relation to the entire lifecycle of our animals.
Our exclusive transport division is an extension of our complete focus on the welfare of our animals. Having control of this aspect of the supply chain ensures that the transportation of livestock is undertaken safely and humanely.
Livestock are transported using our specialist purpose built equipment allowing the best possible environment during movement. Our newly developed Anti-Bruise Cattle Trailers allow the equipment to maximise the space allowance during stock allocation for each load with a focus on reducing stock density by 15% per movement.
Other considerations are also taken to ensure the transit environment is comfortable our livestock, including transporting during early mornings versus during the heat of the day.
We understand that stress reduction during transit is critical to the wellbeing of the animal and as such stock movement practices are implemented to ensure the time spent in transit in minimised.
We understand that we have a duty of car to our livestock and pride ourselves on respecting the animal both on and off our farms.
